ABOUT THE FACULTY

The Hungarian Bishops’ Conference established the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences in 1995, and it also received state recognition. Since then, our faculty has become one of the leading institutions for legal education in Hungary. Our values and objectives remain deeply rooted in the spirit of the original university founded by Cardinal Péter Pázmány in 1635.  We aim to support our students in becoming not only outstanding professionals who meet the demands of modern society, but also individuals with a firm ethical framework who can recognise and resolve moral dilemmas that may arise in their professional lives.

Our training opens the door to a range of possibilities offering promising life paths and opportunities for personal development beyond traditional legal careers, such as becoming a judge, prosecutor or attorney. Graduates can, for instance, run their own businesses, work in the media, specialise in data protection in either the public or private sector, or take on diplomatic roles. As we have seen with our former students, they bring their diverse talents and ever-expanding professional experience to a wide range of fields, including the application of law, policymaking and interdisciplinary expertise. Each of them brings their own unique knowledge and skills to the community.

As a Catholic institution, we seek to integrate scientific knowledge—both in research and in teaching—into a coherent Christian worldview. However, our Catholic worldview is not obligatory for any member of the community; rather, it is an invitation to engage with the world around us from a perspective built on shared or respected values.
